Yard Progress

Our yard has been a continual project since we bought this house. This is what the back yard looked like when we first moved in. Apparently the previous owners had two outside dogs, and therefore they did absolutely nothing as far as landscaping to the back yard, not even raking leaves! So, we spent the first couple of months trying to find our backyard! We have raked and raked, and after the fire department politely told us that we could not burn leaves on our land, we began bagging up the leaves and taking them to the dump. Sixty trash bags later, we still have a little less than 1/3 of the yard that we still need to find, but it's an improvement. Because of all of the trees in our backyard, there was no way we could grow grass back there - just not enough sunlight. So, Adam, aka Lumberjack Brown, went to chopping! I was more than a little nervous, but I must admit, he did a great job, taking down a total of 13 trees!

We also hired a professional to take out the huge tree in our front yard that was way too big and too close to the house, and it looks so much better aesthetically!

This past weekend we rented a stump grinder and Adam ground 20 stumps in our yard. It was a manual grinder, so let's just say that he worked very hard and was very tired Saturday night!

One of our neighbors, Chief Louie, came over to help.

So, now that we have a little sunlight coming through, the next step is to smooth and even out the ground and hopefully lay sod in the next couple of weeks!
