The Reason Behind the Name

Some people are confused as to why we named our blog site "Life with the Good King", so I wanted to take a minute and explain the name of the site. As you all know our son's name is Josiah Garrison. We named him Josiah after King Josiah of 2 Kings 22. The Bible tells that Josiah had a sensitive heart to the Lord when he found out his nations faults. It also speaks of how he was obedient in following the Lord in making changes, and had the courage to carry out those changes. He was a man who did right in the sight of his heavenly Father. We chose the name Garrison because it means soldier, or fort, or outpost, often referred to in the sense of being in a foreign land.

When Connie and I have thought and prayed about who we wanted our son to be in life, we think momentarily as many parents do about him being funny, or handsome, or athletic, or smart, then, we are reminded that those things are fleeting. We truly just want our son to be sensitive the Spirit's working in his life. We want him to have the courage to follow God when his friends and the world do not. We want him to walk in the ways of his Father, not turning to the right or left. We pray that are son will see this life as temporal and that this will not be his home, but instead, that he will love his Heavenly Father and be about the task of building His kingdom.

These thoughts are what brought us to the name Josiah Garrison. Josiah of 2 Kings was a good king, and hopefully you will pray along with us that our son will be a good son of The King.
