The words of this title may seem like they don't fit together, but so went the events of this past weekend. We started off excited about a visit from my parents to celebrate my mom's birthday. However, Thursday night, we received a call from Adam's parents informing us that Grandmom Brown had passed away. Her alzheimers had been progressing, but she died unexpectedly of a heart attack. We are sad but thankful that she didn't suffer and that she is now complete, walking with her Savior in heaven!
We did have a great time Friday and Saturday morning with my parents. I'm not sure who enjoyed our trip to the zoo more: Josiah or Papa!
Josiah loves the giraffes, but he's not so sure about that LONG tongue!
Saying "Hi" to the gorillas.
Opening a Christmas book from Nana and Papa.
You never know what face a toddler is going to make when asked to "Smile!" Thank you for sharing your birthday with us, Nana. We love you very much.
Saturday afternoon we left for Cheraw to be with family before the funeral. It was a sweet time, and we were all grateful to Uncle Kip and the others who helped with all the arrangements and allowed us to have a special time just with the family to say goodbye to Grandmom. Sunday took us to Florence, where the funeral would take place. It was a rare blessing to be around Dad (Bill), his three brothers, and their wives.
I was a little nervous about what I was going to do with Josiah during a 3 -4 hour span of visitation, funeral, and graveside ceremonies, but he was a champ. We started off by going to the park to let him burn off some energy. Let me just say that my son LOVES slides! He had a blast going down the big kid slides and catching some air on the bumps!
If you could zoom in on this one, you would see the pure delight on his face!
During the actual funeral, Josiah and I made laps around the funeral home. Then, at the cemetery, he continued to run around nonstop - that is until he got so tired that he would just lay down in the grass. That wouldn't last long, however, because he didn't like the way the dry grass felt on his head!
Oh so tired!
He's kind of a stud.
Josiah loves his Pops!
Grandmom, you will be missed, though we are so glad you are completely healthy and are enjoying eternity with Jesus!
